Thank you for visiting the Healthcare Navigator Resource Guide Web site.

The Healthcare Navigator project is a regional collaboration between the NOVA Workforce Board, San Mateo County Workforce Board, and Work2Future (formerly Silicon Valley Workforce Investment Network). As the lead agency for the project, NOVA created the Healthcare Navigator position to serve as a resource in the regional One-Stops for staff to better assist clients interested in pursuing health care careers, and also to link the needs of business with allied health care professionals.

In an effort to gather real-time Silicon Valley-specific information pertinent to the needs of the One-Stop client and staff, the Healthcare Navigator interviewed approximately two hundred Bay Area healthcare training providers, employers, healthcare professionals, students in training programs, workforce development professionals, and representatives from professional associations. The data was then aggregated into occupational and industry reports and the Healthcare Navigator Resource Guide was created. Though this project was initially designed as a tool to help One-Stop staff better understand healthcare careers and work with clients transitioning into the healthcare industry, it quickly became clear that the public could also potentially benefit from being able to use the site directly.

This site is designed to increase understanding of the career opportunities that exist in the Silicon Valley healthcare industry; present information about local training programs and financial aid options; present an overview of the barriers to employment that exist in the healthcare industry; and to help job seekers identify local employers, job search tools, and volunteer opportunities. The information on this site is not intended to substitute for an individualized career plan that a client and a One-Stop advisor would make together. One-Stop advisors may also be able to provide clients with additional information or opportunities not included in this site.
